An EHIC visa is valid for travel to some 26 states in Europe. One of the countries that have visa requirements for EHIC qualified taxpayers are Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, and Spain. Visa processing times vary by each country, with some countries taking up to one year to process visa applications while some take up to 3 years to process them. For an EHIC visa to be processed expeditiously, applicants should follow the procedures laid down by their respective government.

To be able to start the visa procedure, an applicant must submit an application form that's published from official government stationery or by a web site accepted by the competent authorities of the EHIC qualified nation. The application form is to be submitted together with relevant documents such as evidence of identity, age, home, and beyond travel history. The documents required should be original, not copies. Further, applicants should make sure that they submit their application forms along with their fingerprints. Fingerprints should be filed in a clean and dust-free atmosphere. After submitting the application in a timely manner, the visa documentation can be received within 3 weeks.

If the candidate doesn't meet the aforementioned criteria, then he may want to submit additional supporting documents. These documents include his passport, flight details or schedule, occupation details, registration card, and the relevant fee. The processing time period is calculated using the calendar date. Applicants who use the multiple-entry travel authorization system will not be qualified for EHIC visa waiver advantages. However, in the event the multiple-entry travel authorization method is used, the applicant will be able to reevaluate the third country's requirement for an EHIC visa.

A beneficiary of the EHIC visa waiver program could visit any of the states mentioned above to make an application to the same. There are no strict requirements to get the benefit. In fact, there are only a couple of eligibility standards. But, there's no legal impediment to beneficiaries from some of the eligible nations to obtain the benefits. The applicant must also not be public charges , nor have been convicted of criminal activity relating to immigration. There are three categories of beneficiaries at the EHIC application: first time applicants, eligible citizens of certain countries who have not applied for EHIC yet, and people that are permanently present in any of the eligible nations.

To get the advantages of the electronic visa waiver, the applicant should submit an online form. This form is available free of charge and can be submitted between six and eight weeks following the date of application. The applicant will receive an email copy of the approved travel authorization, along with a receipt that will be necessary for validation. The receipt will be offered in person or via email.

The advantages of this scheme include five decades of uninterrupted health care coverage in a participating healthcare institution for the spouses and children of eligible citizens of Slovakia. Additionally, children of those citizens will receive two free months of schooling in language. The spouses and children of precisely the same age will be entitled to receive 1 month of public service loan coverage every year. While reviewing a program, the issuer of the EHIC may make changes to the proposed plan without prior notice. This means that the applicant needs to be able to accept the changes, or the program may be disqualified.
